Dr Matthew Egan has joined Border Pathology as their Anatomical Pathologist. He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise having trained in Anatomical Pathology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. He furthered his experience as a Fellow in Surgical Pathology at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, developing a high level of expertise in pathology of the lung and male genitourinary system and published in leading scientific journals. He then practiced in Australia as an anatomical pathologist in academic and private settings, and undertook a Masters of Business Administration at Melbourne Business School.

He was appointed as the CEO of Melbourne Pathology (part of the Sonic Healthcare group) in 2001, where he led a major turnaround following a failing merger. In 2005 he was recruited to Healthscope Ltd following the acquisition of Gribbles Pathology. He led the repositioning of that laboratory as a quality provider, and drove the acquisition of the Davies Campbell deLambert practice in Sydney.

Border Pathology welcomes NEW pathologist
Dr Tara Walker has joined the team at Border Pathology as an additional pathologist to Dr Matthew Egan. Dr Walker who specialises in urological pathology, including prostate pathology, gut, liver and lymphoma will support Dr Egan in providing an excellent service with fast turnaround times; accurate diagnoses and working with clinicians. She says that as a general pathologist “we do all sorts of things including breast pathology and skin”.

Dr Walker is from the south of England in West Sussex and has been grateful for our milder Summer (by Australian standards). She says that both she and her husband have found the Albury/Wodonga community to be very hospitable. “We have been welcomed with open arms. I work with a lovely bunch of people who obviously care about their community” Dr Walker said.
